RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team opened a three-match home stand with a 5-2 loss to North Alabama on Friday afternoon at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
With the loss, EKU (9-17, 2-5 ASUN) will move forward to match two of its final home stand of the regular season against Lipscomb on Sunday morning. Entering play on Friday, the Colonels were in seventh place in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings—the top six teams in the final tally move on to the conference tournament.
Junior
Masha Fedenko picked up her second-straight win on the top court over ASUN Conference opposition taking down Stanislava Bobrovnikova 6-4, 6-4.
Freshman
Ceylin Ipek claimed the Colonels second point with a three-set come-from-behind win over Eeva Ristola on court three 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (9-7), 7-5. Friday's singles win was her sixth of the season and second in conference play.
North Alabama (14-3, 6-1 ASUN) won the doubles point on the top two flights and went on to take four singles courts for its five points in Friday's win. The Lions' four singles wins came in straight sets.
