LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University overcame a 7-1 deficit with eight runs in the seventh inning, but couldn't hold off Bellarmine in a 10-9 loss on Saturday at Knights Field.

The Colonels entered the seventh inning down by six.Â
Colby Ott was hit by a pitch to start the frame and
Julius Scearce followed with a walk. After a strikeout,
Mauri Bejarano loaded the bases with a single to left. With one swing,
Tait Nunnally closed the gap to two, 7-5, with a grand slam over the wall in right field.

Dylan Rogers kept the rally going when he reached on a throwing error and advanced to third. After a pitching change,
AJ Groeneveld reached on a fielder's choice.Â
Silas Shaffer made it a 1-run game, 7-6, with an RBI single up the middle. A double off the bat of
Ehinger Adrianza scored two runs to put the visitors ahead 8-7. Ott, batting for the second time in the inning, capped the big comeback with a sacrifice fly for a 9-7 edge.

Bellarmine came right back and tied the game, 9-9, in the bottom of the seventh on a 2-run home run from Mason Acton. With the game still tied in the ninth, Luke Scales led off with a single to center and then scored the game-winner on a double from Jacob Rowold.

The Knights (17-38, 11-19 ASUN) scored in each of the first four innings – one run each in the first and second innings, and two each in the third and fourth frames. Scales and Charlie Rife hit solo home runs in the third before Rowold drove in two with a double in the fourth to make it 6-0.

EKU (11-44, 8-22 ASUN) got on the board in the top of the fifth on a solo home run by Scearce, his seventh of the season.

Scearce had a 2-for-3 day with a walk, two runs, and an RBI. Adrianza finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Nunnally's only hit was the grand slam.

Scales went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.
