Grode Named Atlantic Sun Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

Second ASUN Player of the Week Award in Grode’s Career

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University sophomore forward Ella Grode has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring three goals in two games against Northern Kentucky and Duquesne, the league announced Monday.

It is the second ASUN Player of the Week honor of Grode's career and the third weekly conference award for the Colonels this season.

Grode led a comeback win over NKU last Thursday, scoring two second-half goals on three shot attempts. She added the equalizer in Sunday's draw with Duquesne, firing a career-high seven shots.

The Avon Lake, Ohio, native leads the conference with six goals and 14 points. She has posted two multi-goal performances this season against Toledo, NKU, and has scored in three of the Colonels' last four matches.

Through eight games, Grode has converted 33 percent of her shots (6-of-18) into goals and placed 50 percent (9-of-18) on target. She already ranks in the program's top 10 in career goals, assists, points, shots, and shots on goal.

EKU opens league play Thursday at Lipscomb, just days after being ranked the No. 32 team in the initial NCAA RPI Poll on Monday, the highest official ranking in program history.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and can be streamed live on ESPN+.
