RICHMOND, Ky. – In a match-up of the only two unbeaten teams in the United Athletic Conference, Eastern Kentucky beat Tarleton State, 3-0, on Thursday at Baptist Health Arena.

EKU (13-2, 3-0 UAC) won its eighth straight match by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-17.

Junior right side
Emma Closurdo led all players with 16 kills for Eastern. She made only two errors in 24 attempts for a .583 attack percentage.Â
Audrey Hudson added 10 kills and 10 digs.

The Colonels scored the first five points of the first set and led the entire way. A kill from Closurdo put her team ahead 16-8. A kill from
Alexis Bull stretched the margin to nine late, 23-14. Closurdo ended the opener, 25-19, with a kill.

The Texans (6-10, 2-1 UAC) overcame an early 5-point deficit in the second set to tie it at 11-11 on an EKU attack error. However, the Colonels scored five of the next six to seize control.Â
Addison Burke's kill pushed the home team in front by four, 16-12. Eastern Kentucky scored the final three points of the set to win it 25-19 and go up 2-0 in the match.

EKU was up one, 6-5, in the third set after an attack error. The Colonels then went on a 7-1 run to pull away. Hill's ace made it 10-6. Another aces off the senior's serve put her team ahead 13-6. Burke's ace gave Eastern an 18-12 advantage. Closurdo's final kill of the match ended the third set 25-17.

Bull finished with eight kills and three blocks. She had only one attack error in 12 attempts for a .583 attack percentage.

As a team, Eastern Kentucky posted a .286 hitting percentage while holding Tarleton State to a .158 attack percentage. EKU served up six aces and only made three service errors. The Texas had four aces and five service errors.

Onita Davis posted a team-best nine kills for Tarleton State.
