EKU Earns Program-Record 17 UAC Postseason Honors

RICHMOND, Ky. - Following a historic regular season, 11 members of the Eastern Kentucky University women's soccer program combined to earn a program-record 17 postseason honors in the Colonels' inaugural United Athletic Conference campaign.

Head coach Matt Cosinuke was named UAC Coach of the Year, while Jordan LeVasseur earned Goalkeeper of the Year honors.

LeVasseur joined Avery May, Chiara Premoli and Rachel Phifer on the All-UAC First Team, giving EKU a program-record four first-team selections.

Peyton Smith, Rachel Robinson and Juliet Strange earned All-UAC Second Team recognition, while Ronnie Ariel and Calista Everson were named to the UAC All-Freshman Team.

The Colonels' success extended to the classroom, with May, Premoli, Smith, Robinson, Strange and Nicki Klosterman named to the UAC Women's Soccer All-Academic List.

Cosinuke became the second coach in program history to earn the award and the first in a decade. Picked to finish first in the UAC Preseason Coaches Poll, EKU delivered under his leadership, capturing the program's second regular-season conference title and securing its first No. 1 seed in a conference tournament.

Despite injuries to preseason all-conference selections, Cosinuke guided the Colonels to a 10-6-3 overall record and a 6-2-2 mark in UAC play. EKU reached 10 wins for the third consecutive season, the longest streak in program history.

The Colonels matched the program's single-season record with 30 goals and posted totals that rank among the top three in program history in assists, shots and points.

LeVasseur anchored EKU's defense, becoming the program's first conference Goalkeeper of the Year. Building on an impressive freshman campaign, the Pinckney, Michigan, native recorded 72 saves, five shutouts and a 1.03 goals-against average while allowing just 16 goals. In EKU's 10 conference matches, she posted four shutouts and surrendered eight goals, tied for the second fewest in the UAC.

May earned first-team recognition following one of the greatest offensive seasons in EKU history. She led the Colonels with seven goals, five assists, 19 points, three game-winning goals, 68 shots and 30 shots on goal. Each total ranked among the top five in program single-season history.

Phifer earned first-team honors after finishing second on the team with four goals and adding two assists for 10 points. A contributor on both ends of the field, she helped EKU establish itself among the conference's best in scoring and defense. The recognition followed her all-freshman team selection last season.

Premoli added first-team recognition to her decorated career, earning all-conference honors for the third time. The senior started all 19 matches, scoring three goals, including two game-winners, and adding two assists for eight points. EKU's career assists leader remained a steady presence in the midfield, helping orchestrate one of the conference's most dangerous attacks.

Robinson earned her second career all-conference honor with a second-team selection after starting all 19 matches. As the heart of EKU's midfield, she helped the Colonels establish one of the conference's strongest attacks and defenses.

Smith secured second-team recognition after tallying three goals and three assists for nine points. She tied for third on the team in goals and points and second in assists. Smith also earned UAC Player of the Week honors and a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week after scoring twice against Austin Peay and adding a goal and an assist against West Georgia.

Strange earned a second-team selection after starting all 19 matches and providing leadership as EKU's only senior defender. She helped anchor a back line that allowed just eight goals in conference play and recorded seven shutouts overall.

Ariel earned a spot on the UAC All-Freshman Team after appearing in all 19 matches with 16 starts. She recorded two goals and one assist for five points, placing six of her 11 shots on goal.

Everson received UAC All-Freshman Team recognition after establishing herself as a regular on EKU's back line, starting all 19 matches in her debut season.

EKU now turns its attention to postseason play, advancing directly to the UAC Tournament semifinals Nov. 11. The Colonels will face the winner of the Nov. 8 matchup between Tarleton State and Austin Peay.
