RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University beat Northern Kentucky, 16-11, in a midweek matchup on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium.

After the Norse scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at 11-11, the Colonels immediately answered in the bottom half. With the bases loaded and two outs,
Pedro Moreno singled through the right side to bring home two runs. EKU (2-2) led the rest of the way.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the eighth, a throwing error on a ground ball back to the pitcher allowed all three runners to score, giving the Colonels a 5-run cushion, 16-11.

Jack Bell retired the side in order in the top of the ninth, including striking out the final two batters to preserve the win.

Moreno finished 3-for-4 with two walks, three runs and three RBIs.Â
Dylan Littlefield drove in three runs while going 1-for-5 with a home run and a run scored.Â
Kobe Benson scored twice after a 2-for-4 performance.Â
David Alvarez was 1-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs.

After falling behind 5-2 after the top of the second inning, EKU scored six times in the bottom half.Â
Khaleel Pratt started the inning with a home run. Moreno had an RBI double.Â
Jay Douglas drove in two runs with a single to left field. Alvarez finished it off with a 2-run home run over the wall in left center for an 8-5 advantage.

Littlefield's 3-run home run in the bottom of the fourth pushed the Colonels in front 11-5.

Northern Kentucky (1-3) hit two home runs in the 6-run sixth inning. Jake Paulick drove in three with a shot over the wall in left center. Lex Brazer plated three more with a homer to left center. Paulick finished 2-for-4 with two runs and six RBIs. Brazer was 2-for-5 with a run and three driven in.
