Colonels Wrap Up Series With Loss At Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio. –
Eastern Kentucky University's baseball team wrapped up its series with a 3-1 loss at Dayton on Saturday.
 
The final game of the series scheduled for Sunday has been canceled due to cold temperatures.
 
The two teams completed the final three innings of game two of the series that began on Friday and was suspended due to darkness.  Neither team scored, ending the game in a 12-9 victory for Dayton.
 
Dylan Littlefield finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a run and three RBIs.  Pedro Moreno went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.  Jason Bello had a 2-for-4 game with two runs and two RBIs for the Flyers.
 
In the third game of the series, Dayton grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third inning.  The first run scored on a throwing error.  Grayson Carpenter followed with a run scoring single and then scored on Sam Stem's triple.
 
The Colonels got one back in the top of the fourth when Littlefield hit a home run to start the inning.  It was his fourth straight game with a home run. 
 
EKU loaded the bases on three straight walks with two outs in the ninth but could not get the tying runs home.
 
Jacob Price had a quality start for the Colonels, allowing three runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.  He did not walk a batter and struck out two.
 
Littlefield finished 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Moreno and David Alvarez had one hit each.
 
Danny MacDougal had a 3-for-3 game with a run scored for the Flyers (4-2).
 
The Colonels (2-5) will play at Louisville on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
