RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but Queens University of Charlotte staged a second half comeback to leave Baptist Health Arena with a 96-79 victory on Wednesday.

Montavious Myrick led the Colonels with 17 points and eight rebounds.Â
Jalen Cooper had 14 points and seven rebounds.

EKU (11-19, 7-10 ASUN) scored the first three points of the game and never trailed in the first half. A putback from Myrick made it 16-5 early. The Royals closed to within two, 16-14, after a 9-0 run. Six points in a span of 47 seconds pushed the Colonels ahead by 11, 34-23, with 7:37 to go before the half.

An elbow jumper and a 3-pointer from the left wing by
Jayden Harris made it a 14-point game, 49-35, with 3:06 on the clock. However, the Colonels scored just one point the rest of the half and a 10-1 run allowed Queens to hit the locker room down just five, 50-35.

The Royals went 20-for-23 at the free throw line in the first half. EKU shot 56% (18-of-32) in the first 20 minutes of play.

Queens (18-12, 13-4 ASUN) completed the comeback by scoring 11 of the first 14 points of the second half. Carson Schwieger tied it with a 3-pointer and Yoav Berman followed with a triple to give the visitors their first lead, 56-53, with 15:35 left in the game.

Avantae Parker's two free throws with 9:44 left in the game pushed the Royals' lead to nine. A putback from Gus Larson made it a double digit lead for the visitors, 77-66, with 8:20 on the clock.

Berman led all players with 24 points for Queens.

The Royals finished the game 30-for-38 at the charity stripe while the Colonels made 20-of-28. Queens shot 55% from the field in the second half and 51% for the game. The home team connected on only 28% of its field goals in the second half (7-for-25) and shot 44% for the game.

EKU will conclude the regular season on Saturday against Lipscomb at 4 p.m. ET. Saturday will be Senior Night.
