EKU Evens Series With 6-3 Win At Tulane

NEW ORLEANS, La. –
Jacob Price turned in a quality start and Dylan Littlefield hit his fifth home run of the season as Eastern Kentucky University evened its series at Tulane University with a 6-3 victory on Saturday in New Orleans.
 
Littlefield, the second batter of the game, sent an 0-2 pitch sailing over the wall in right field to put his team up 1-0 and the Colonels (3-7) led the rest of the way.
 
With the bases loaded later in the first, Tyler Phillips was hit by a pitch to force in David Alvarez and gain a 2-0 advantage.
 
The Green Wave scratched the scoreboard in the bottom half of the first, bringing in a run on a sacrifice fly from Tanner Chun.
 
With the bases loaded again in the second, Khaleel Pratt drew a walk to force home another run.  The Colonels got two more in the third.  Phillips scored on a throwing error.  Littlefield drove in Carson Bittner with a sacrifice fly to make it 5-1.
 
Littlefield had another sacrifice fly in the seventh to expand the margin to 6-2.  Tulane scored one in the bottom half of the seventh to get back within three.
 
Price (1-1) pitched seven innings and allowed three runs on eight hits.  He did not walk a batter and struck out six.  Jack Bell earned his second save of the season after pitching the final 1 1/3 innings.  He did not allow a hit, walked two and struck out one.
 
Littlefield finished 1-for-2 with two walks, a home run, a run scored and three RBIs.  Alvarez had a 2-for-5 game with a run scored. 
 
Kaikea Harrison turned in a 2-for-5 performance with a run and an RBI for Tulane (7-4).
 
The series finale is set for Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET.
