NEW ORLEANS, La. – Eight runs in the bottom of the eighth broke a 3-3 tie and allowed Tulane to beat Eastern Kentucky University, 11-3, on Sunday in New Orleans.

The Colonels will return to Richmond to host Kentucky on Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET. There will be a pregame tailgate with inflatables, yard games and food trucks. It will also be $2 Day with popcorn, hotdogs and beer priced at just $2. The first 50 fans will receive a pack of EKU baseball trading cards.

Tulane (8-4) grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The first three batters drew walks to load the bases. EKU limited the damage by allowing just a sacrifice fly from Matthias Haas and an RBI ground out by Trent Liolios.

The Colonels (3-8) took the lead in the sixth.Â
Pedro Moreno was hit by a pitch to start the inning and
Dylan Littlefield singled to put runners on the corners.Â
David Alvarez brought home Moreno with a single through the left side.Â
Khaleel Pratt's ground ball was enough to plate Littlefield and tie the game at 2-2.Â
Silas Shaffer put his team on top with a sacrifice fly that scored Alvarez.

Haas tied it again, 3-3, when he led off the sixth with a home run over the wall in left field.

Tulane scored eight in the eighth to break the tie. Johnny Elliott drove in two with a single to center. Jason Wachs drove in a pair with a single to right field.

Hayden Collins provided a stretch of solid relief for the Colonels. He came in with one out in the first inning, one run already in, and runners at second and third. He limited the damage with just one more run scoring in the first. In five innings of work, he allowed one run of his own on three hits, walked two and struck out one.

Littlefield finished 2-for-4 with a run scored for EKU.

Hass had a 3-for-3 game with a walk, a home run and three RBIs for the Green Wave.
