RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University lost to No. 21 Kentucky, 10-0, on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium in Richmond.

The Wildcats (10-2) scored one run each in the first, third and fourth innings, but it was a grand slam in the second that pushed the visitors out ahead be a large margin early.

With no outs and the bases juiced, Scott Campbell sent a 2-2 pitch over the wall in left center for a 5-0 advantage. Ethan Hindle made it 6-0 with a home run to start the third inning.

Kentucky had the bases loaded again in the sixth and got a single up the middle to bring home two more for a 9-0 lead. The Wildcats tacked on the 10th run in the seventh.

Hindle finished 2-for-4 with a run and two driven in. Scott's lone hit was the grand slam. Tommy Skelding (1-0) pitched four innings, allowed two hits, walked one and struck out two.Â

David Alvarez went 2-for-3 for the Colonels (3-9).

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday in Lexington at Kentucky Proud Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. and the game will air live on the SEC Network+.
