Colonels Set for Day of Duals in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Eastern Kentucky beach volleyball team is set to compete in the Day of Duals on March 11.

The Colonels will play three matches on the day, facing Georgia State at 8:30 a.m. ET, followed by Austin Peay at 10:30 a.m., before closing out the day against Tennessee Tech at 2:30 p.m.

The match against Georgia State will be broadcast on ESPN+, while live stats will be available for all matches.

THE COLONELS

The Colonels enter the tournament with a 7-5 record after last competing in the Duuuval Duals, where they picked up a 4-1 win over Mercer.

Molly Shomock and Riley Cutler led the Colonels with a strong weekend, going 3-1 with wins over Mercer, Jacksonville and reigning ASUN champion North Florida.

The victory against North Florida was a statement win for the No. 1 flight pair, who rallied for a 9-21, 21-18, 15-12 victory over a pair of first-team All-ASUN selections.

Shomock and Cutler lead the Colonels with a 9-3 record this season.

Elpida Pitsigkoni and Gabriella Armitage have also been strong in the lineup, posting an 8-4 mark this year.

The freshman duo of Carlyn McAllister and Sutton Sales are also 8-4 on the season for EKU.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Georgia State enters the matchup with a 5-8 record but has faced a challenging schedule, including six ranked teams. The Panthers went 22-17 last season and won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament for the second consecutive year.

Georgia State leads the all-time series 2-0 and last defeated the Colonels, 4-1, during the 2025 season.

Austin Peay comes into the tournament with a 3-5 record and last competed on Feb. 28. The Governors are currently on a four-match losing streak and have not won a set during that stretch.

The Colonels previously defeated Austin Peay earlier this season, earning a 5-0 victory at the Cincy Clash.

Tennessee Tech enters the tournament with a 1-4 record and most recently picked up a win over LaGrange on March 7.

The Colonels lead the all-time series 2-0 and last earned a 4-1 victory over the Golden Eagles during the 2025 season.
