RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University's softball team is set to return home following a two-game midweek road trip, opening ASUN Conference play with a series against Austin Peay.
On Saturday, March 14, EKU will host a doubleheader against the Governors, with the first game scheduled for 1 p.m. ET and the second at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m ET.
Saturday's games will stream on ESPN+, and live stats will be available for all three games.
THE COLONELS
The Colonels enter the series with an 11-13 record after being run-ruled in their previous two games.
EKU is 7-2 at home this season and recently earned a 9-6 win over Northern Kentucky.
Kennedy Drafton leads the Colonels with 20 hits, 17 runs, 16 RBIs and four home runs, batting .313 this season.
Pitcher
Victoria Byrum, the reigning ASUN Pitcher of the Week, went 2-0 with a 0.45 ERA over 15.2 innings, allowing one earned run on 10 hits, striking out 17, and holding opposing hitters to a .179 average.
Freshman
Bayle Hunnicutt has also been a key arm in the circle, going 5-4 in a team-high 60.1 innings, holding opponents to a .209 batting average.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Governors enter the series with a 16-9 record after a loss to No. 1 Tennessee.
Austin Peay finished last season 39-16, falling to No. 4 Stetson.
EKU leads the all-time series 69-20 and has won seven of the past 10 meetings.
The teams last met in 2025, when the Colonels took the series 2-1. EKU closed with a 6-4 win, as
Lilly Davis sealed the game with a 3 RBI home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
First Team All-ASUN selection Brie Howard leads the Governors with 27 hits, 22 runs, 37 RBIs, five doubles, one triple and 11 home runs on the season.
Alanah Jones is 10-4 in the circle for Austin Peay with a 2.76 ERA, holding opponents to a .244 batting average.
The three-game series opens ASUN play for the Colonels, who look to carry their strong home record into conference action.
