Colonels Even Series With 16-3 Win Over Central Arkansas On Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University evened its Atlantic Sun Conference series with Central Arkansas after a 16-3 victory, in seven innings, on Saturday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
EKU has scored 28 runs in the first two games of the series.  UCA won the series opener 16-12 on Friday.
 
The series finale on Sunday will begin at 12 p.m. ET.  Sunday is Junior Colonel Club Day with members getting into the game for FREE.  Kids have a chance to be the "Play Ball" kid, guest public address announcer and can run the bases after the game.  The Kids Day Combo includes a hot dog, chips and drink for $8.
 
After falling behind 1-0 after the top of the first inning, the Colonels (6-13, 1-1 ASUN) scored five in the bottom half and never trailed again.  After a leadoff walk to Pedro Moreno, Dylan Littlefield hit one 359 feet over the wall in right field to put the home team ahead 2-1.  Silas Shaffer added a 2-run single through the right side later in the first.  Ricco Longo finished it with a sacrifice fly for a 5-1 lead.
 
EKU scored twice in the second to make it 7-1.  In front 7-2, the Colonels scored seven in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.  Moreno's bases loaded triple highlighted the big inning.
 
Jacob Price started and turned in his third quality start of the season.  The redshirt junior from Louisville allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings of work.  He walked two and struck out six.
 
Littlefield had a 3-for-4 game with two runs and three RBIs.  Moreno went 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs and three driven in.  David Alvarez had three hits in three at bats, walked twice, scored twice and had two RBIs.
 
Zeb Allen hit his seventh home run of the season in the third inning for Central Arkansas (11-8, 1-1 ASUN).  He finished 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
