RICHMOND, Ky. – Four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning erased a 3-run deficit and propelled Eastern Kentucky University team to a 6-5 victory over Central Arkansas in the Atlantic Sun Conference series finale on Sunday at Earle Combs Stadium.

The Bears won the series opener on Friday (16-12) before the Colonels won the final two games, including a 16-3 victory on Saturday.

Ricco Longo started the bottom of the seventh with a double to left center and
Kobe Benson followed with a walk.Â
Pedro Moreno sent a 2-0 pitch into right center for a 2-run triple, getting the home team within one, 5-4. After
Jay Douglas walked and stole second base, a ground ball to second off the bat of
David Alvarez was enough to bring home Moreno and tie the score.

Khaleel Pratt capped the late rally with a single into right field to plate Douglas and put EKU ahead 6-5.

Griffin Howell retired the side in order in the top of the eighth on nine pitches. The Colonels (7-13, 2-1 ASUN) went down in order in the bottom half of the eighth to send it to the ninth with a 1-run lead.

The first two batters reached base for the Bears in the top of the ninth and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. EKU turned to
Jack Bell with two on and one out. In an attempt to bring home the tying run, Jack Runsick popped up to first base on a bunt. Landon Carter then hit the first pitch he saw on the fly into center field. Douglas gloved it to preserve the win.

Moreno finished 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Longo finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Douglas had a 2-for-3 game with a walk, a run and an RBI.

Parker Gwyn had two hits in four at bats with a run and an RBI for Central Arkansas (11-9, 1-2 ASUN).

The Colonels scored the first two runs of the game. Longo drove in the one in the bottom of the second with a single to left center. An RBI single through the left side from Douglas in the third made it 2-0.

The Bears scored two in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to move ahead 5-2.
