Colonels Come Back To Tie It, But North Alabama Scores Late To Win

FLORENCE, Ala. –
Eastern Kentucky University scored two runs in the eighth to tie the game, but North Alabama answered with two in the bottom half to pull out a 7-5 victory in the series finale on Sunday in Florence.
 
The Colonels will host longtime rival Morehead State on Tuesday at 6 p.m.  It will be $2 Day with tickets, popcorn, hotdogs and beer priced at $2 each.  It will also be Little League Day, with discounted tickets for local little league players, their friends and family.  EKU baseball trading cards will be given to the first 50 fans.
 
EKU (7-17, 2-4 ASUN) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.  Pedro Moreno started the game with a double to left field.  With one out, Khaleel Pratt hit a 2-run home run over the wall in left.
 
The Lions (11-13, 4-2 ASUN) took the lead in the fourth.  Nash Rippen started the inning with a walk before Will Millard tied it with a 2-run shot over the wall in left field.  Wes Walker followed with a solo homer to make it 3-2.
 
UNA scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to extend its lead to 5-2.  The Colonels got one back in the top of the seventh when Jackson Reid drove in Jackson Cauthron with a single to right field.
 
EKU then tied it up in the eighth.  Pratt was hit by a pitch to start the inning.  On a 1-0 offering, David Alvarez hit a 2-run home run over the wall in left field to make it a 5-5 game.
 
North Alabama responded with two in the bottom of the eighth to retake the lead.  Leighton Jenkins broke the tie with an RBI single to left.  Jackson Westmoreland added an insurance run with an RBI single to left as well.
 
Alvarez was 1-for-5 with a run and two RBIs.  Pratt had a 1-for-4 game with two runs and two RBIs.
 
Millard had a 2-for-4 game with two runs and two RBIs.  Jenkins finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
