Colonels Drop Back-And-Forth Affair To Visiting Morehead State

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University lost to Morehead State, 12-6, in a midweek non-conference game on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
The Colonels grabbed a 3-0 lead, Morehead State went up 6-4, EKU tied it at 6-6 and the Eagles scored four to go back on top 10-6.
 
Jackson Cauthron had an RBI double as part of a 3-run first inning for the Colonels.  After MSU closed the gap to 3-2 in the top of the second, Dylan Littlefield scored on an error in the bottom half to make it 4-2.
 
Aubrey Kearns drove in two with a single through the left side to tie it for the Eagles in the top of the fifth.  Ian McCubbin followed with a 2-run home run over the wall in right field to give the visitors their first lead of the game.
 
Khaleel Pratt hit his fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth and Pedro Moreno drove in the tying run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single to center field, knotting it up at 6-6.
 
Another 4-run inning, in the top of the seventh, gave the Eagles the lead for good.  Kyle Krupp capped the frame with a 2-run single up the middle.
 
Pratt had a 1-for-4 game with two runs and one RBI.  Moreno had one hit in three at bats, walked once, scored once and drove in one.
 
McCubbin finished 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.  Kearns went 2-for-4 with two walks, three runs and two RBIs.
 
EKU will take to the road for a second straight weekend for a 3-game series at Lipscomb.  The series opener in Nashville is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
