NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Three home runs and six runs in the first inning propelled Eastern Kentucky University to a 15-3 victory over Lipscomb on Saturday in Nashville.

With the win, the Colonels even the weekend series at 1-1.

EKU had 20 hits in the game, drew seven walks and was hit by a pitch four times.

After the first two batters in the top of the first were retired, the next eight reached base.Â
David Alvarez started it with a walk and
Khaleel Pratt followed with a walk.Â
Jackson Cauthron then hit his first home run of the season, a 3-run shot over the wall in right field.

Ricco Longo singled to left before
Gunnar Bingham hit his first homer of the season, also over the wall in right field.Â
Jackson Reid made it back-to-back home runs with his first of the season, depositing a 3-2 pitch over the wall in right for a 6-0 lead.

Boone Shevey and
Pedro Moreno both singled before the inning came to an end.

The Colonels stretched their lead to 8-0 in the second when Bingham and Reid were both hit by pitches with the bases loaded.Â
Dylan Littlefield made it 9-0 when he scored on a ground ball in the third.

The Bisons cracked the scoring column in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run from Jordan Thomas and an RBI fielder's choice by Kai Holm.

Jacob Price (3-2) spun his fourth quality start of the season for the Colonels. The redshirt junior from Louisville earned the win after allowing two runs on four hits, with one walk and two strikeouts in six innings of work.

EKU (8-19, 3-5 ASUN) stretched the margin to 10, 12-2, in the top of the eighth when Moreno cleared the bases with a 2-out double to center field. Reid added a 2-run double in the top of the ninth to cap another 3-run inning.

Alvarez had a 5-for-5 game with a walk and two runs. Cauthron went 3-for-6 with two runs and three RBIs. Moreno finished 2-for-7 with three RBIs. Reid had three hits in four at bats, a walk, two runs and four RBIs.

Thomas finished 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs for Lipscomb (12-12, 5-3 ASUN).
