FLORENCE, AL. - The Eastern Kentucky beach volleyball team improves to 12-7 after sweeping Saturday's duals against Austin Peay 3-2 and Spring Hill 3-2.

In match one of the day, the Colonels dropped the first two flights and were down 2-0. It was all Colonels from that point, starting with the senior pair
Sami Deidesheimer and
Arilyn Lee, who picked up a 21-10, 21-18 win in the fifth flight.

Elpida Pitsigkoni and
Amanda Floystad tied things up in the third flight with a clutch 21-19 win in the first set before dominating in the second with a 21-9 victory to tie things up.

Tied 2-2, it all came down to
Molly Shomock and
Riley Cutler in the first flight. The pair picked up a 21-15 win in the first set before dropping the second, setting up the decisive third set for game point. Shomock and Cutler weren't to be denied, clinching the win with a 16-14 victory.

In game two, the Colonels kept the ball rolling, picking up the opening point in the fourth flight from
Zsa Zsa Ferguson and
Sutton Sales with a 21-13 win.

Spring Hill tied things up in the second flight, winning a close flight in three sets.

Deidesheimer and Lee gave the Colonels the lead with another sweep in the fifth set, 21-7, 21-18.

Pitsigkoni and Floystad clinched the Colonel's victory, winning 21-13, 21-15 to close out the day.

The Colonels are off to their best start in program history through 19 games.

EKU returns home to host the EKU Sand Fest, where they will host Morehead State, Liberty, Ottawa, and Chattanooga on April 2-4. The Colonels are only four games from tying the programs record in wins with nine games remaining in the regular season.
