RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis split a doubleheader on Wednesday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center, dropping a morning match 4-2 against Jacksonville State and defeating Northern Kentucky 5-2 in the nightcap.
 
With Wednesday's results, EKU moves to 9-12 on the season and hold a 5-3 record in home matches.
 
The Colonels dropped the doubles point with losses on courts one and three.
 
Despite losing the doubles point, EKU thundered back in singles taking five of six courts for the win over NKU.
 
Nuno Pinheiro defeated NKU's Emilio Bravo 6-3, 6-1 on court one. Ilie Cazac took down NKU's Jackson Poulos 6-1, 6-2 on cour three. Joao Barreto won on court four over NKU's Hector Salvado 6-3, 6-2 while the Colonels had two other wins on five and six from Adrian Contreras and Kartik Parhar.
 
All five Colonel points on the singles front were won in straight sets.
 
EKU will have two weeks off from competition and will face Vanderbilt in its next match on March 22 at 5 p.m. ET.
