NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis program picked up a 4-3 win over Lipscomb on Friday afternoon at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center to wrap up the regular season.
With the win, EKU concludes the regular season with a 12-14 overall record and will shift its sights to the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship from April 14-18 in Fort Myers, Florida.
The Colonels opened the dual match winning the doubles point over Lipscomb. EKU won both matches by 6-2 decisions on courts No. 1 and No. 3.
In singles, Lipscomb (11-11) battled back winning three of the six courts, but were unable to capitalize on momentum near the end of the match.
Freshman
Marek Nano won on court No. 2 over Lipscomb's Filippo Verdese in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. The Slovakia native finishes the regular season with a 6-3 overall record on the second flight.
The reigning ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Fernando Bulnes was next up defeating Henrique Ushizima 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 in comeback fashion on court No. 3. He wraps up the year with an 11-7 record and is on a three-match winning streak heading into the ASUN Tournament next week.
EKU would clinch the match when freshman
Joao Barreto defeated Alex Vlahos in straight sets 7-6, 6-4 on court No. 5.
The Colonels earned the No. 4-seed in the ASUN Tournament and will take on No. 5-seed Florida Gulf Coast on April 15 at 9 a.m. ET on the Eagles' home courts.
