RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University softball team renews an old OVC rivalry Wednesday with a doubleheader against Morehead State at Gertrude Hood Field.

Game one is scheduled for 3 p.m., with game two set for 5 p.m. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available.

The Colonels (21-19, 10-4 ASUN) enter the doubleheader after completing a series sweep over North Alabama.

Scouting the Eagles

Morehead State comes to Richmond at 6-27 overall and 5-13 in OVC play. The Eagles most recently secured a series win over Tennessee State, taking two of three games for their second straight series victory.

In the circle, the Eagles are led by junior Ainsley Stubbs. Stubbs owns a 5.45 ERA, has held opponents to a .338 batting average, and has struck out 68 batters. She has logged a team-high 95 innings and carries a 6-9 record this season.

Allicen Harris has thrown the second-most innings for the Eagles. The freshman from Benton has appeared in 20 games, posting a 5.17 ERA while limiting opponents to a .349 batting average.

Maddy Christopher leads the Eagles offensively with a team-high 48 hits while scoring 26 runs. Christopher also owns the highest batting average and on-base percentage on the roster.

Noeyme Letendre leads Morehead State with 24 RBIs and five home runs. Sela Pickford ranks second on the team in both hits and RBIs while adding seven doubles and two home runs.

EKU leads the all-time series, 58-26, and has won nine of the last 10 meetings. The teams met in a doubleheader last season in Morehead, where the Colonels went 2-0 and scored 30 combined runs. The last Eagles win in the series came in 2022, when Morehead State earned a 3-1 victory.

In game one, EKU rallied from a 5-2 deficit with a three-run fifth inning before
Kennedy Drafton delivered a two-run home run in the sixth inning to secure a 7-6 victory.

Victoria Byrum, who tossed a complete-game shutout. Byrum allowed five hits, struck out five batters, and recorded 11 flyouts and five groundouts. Seniors
Jaelin Haynes and
Lilly Davis paced the offense. Haynes went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Davis finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Jordan Smith's solo home run in the ninth inning, the first homer of her career. EKU also received key contributions from the bottom of the lineup, with
Riley Oleksik and
Jocelyn Owen delivering timely hits.

The Colonels are now tied with Central Arkansas for first place in the Gold Division, with Central Arkansas holding the tiebreaker entering a pivotal series between the two teams this weekend.
