Dylan Littlefield brought home
Pedro Moreno on a ground out. A double off the bat of
Jackson Cauthron made it 2-0.
Â
The Bears erased the deficit with five runs in the second and led the rest of the way. Casey Shipley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to push across UCA's first run. With two outs and the bases still loaded later in the inning, Zeb Allen sent a ball sailing over the wall in right field for a grand slam, and a 5-2 lead.
Â
After the home team took a 7-2 lead in the third, EKU (10-30, 4-14 ASUN) got within three with two runs in the fifth, and again in the sixth when Littlefield hit a solo home run to make it 8-5.
Â
With runners on second and third and no outs in the seventh, a ground out from Moreno was enough to close the gap to two, 8-6.Â
Â
Littlefield had a 1-for-4 game with a run and two RBIs. Moreno was 1-for-3 with two walks, one run and one RBI.
Â
Parker Gwyn had a 2-for-3 game with a walk and three runs scored for the Bears (22-18, 10-8 ASUN). Allen was 3-for-5 with a run and four RBIs.
