RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky beach volleyball team is set to compete in the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship beginning Wednesday, April 22, at John Hunt Park.
Â
The Colonels will open tournament play with a rematch from last season when they face No. 3 seed FGCU at 2 p.m. ET.
Â
All matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
Â
EKU enters the tournament after a historic regular season in which it went 17-11 and set the program record for wins in a season.
Â
The Colonels have six different players with at least 17 wins this year. Leading the way is the No. 1 pair of
Molly Shomock and
Riley Cutler, who are 17-11 overall and 6-2 against conference opponents. The duo has also excelled against top competition, highlighted by a win earlier this season over North Florida's top pair.
Â
Gabriella Armitage and
Elpida Pitsigkoni have also been in strong form entering the postseason. The pair went 3-0 at the Scenic Showdown, winning over North Alabama, UT Martin, and Chattanooga. Armitage and Pitsigkoni are 16-6 this season, while Pitsigkoni sits one win shy of tying the program's single-season individual record with 20 victories.
Â
The Colonels have also received key contributions from several new faces this season.
Amanda Floystad, who had played in only one match across her previous two seasons at EKU, has taken control of the No. 3 spot and posted a 14-9 record.
Â
Freshmen
Sutton Sales and
Carlyn Mcallister have also made an immediate impact. Mcallister has 16 wins, while Sales has 17 and is one victory away from tying the program record for most wins by a freshman.
Â
FGCU enters the matchup with an 18-14 record. The Eagles have faced a challenging schedule that included several ranked opponents and own a notable win over No. 14 Hawaii.
Â
EKU will look to continue its historic season by earning its second ASUN Tournament victory in program history.
