EKU Men’s Golf in Fourth Place After ASUN Championship Second Round

Larson Fires Tournament Low 66 (-6), Moves into Tie for Second

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team turned in another strong performance and sits in fourth place after the second round of the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Golf Championship on Wednesday at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

The Colonels posted a team score of 285 (-3) to move into sole possession of fourth place on the leaderboard. EKU enters the final round one stroke behind third-place Lipscomb and five strokes ahead of fifth-place North Florida.

Senior Anders Larson once again paced the Colonels, carding a tournament-low round of 66 (-6) to move into a tie for second place individually. His round tied for the 21st-lowest score in program history and matched the second-lowest round by a Colonel in a conference championship.

Starting on the front nine, EKU continued its strong play with 10 birdies and 14 pars to climb three spots on the leaderboard.

On the back nine, the Colonels stayed consistent, recording one eagle, six birdies and 24 pars. EKU finished the day at 6-under as a team, positioning itself firmly in contention heading into the final round.

Larson, a native of Pine Island, Minnesota, tallied four birdies on the front nine before playing bogey-free on the back with three birdies and six pars. His 6-under round was the lowest score posted by any player through the first two rounds. He will enter Thursday's final round just two shots off the lead.

"Being able to help the team out with a 66 today is awesome," said Larson. "Moved up the leaderboard six spots, which is great, put myself in a good spot for tomorrow, but we're looking to win team championships seeing if we can bring home another title. We're eight back right now and anything can happen in team golf. The course is getting a little faster and firmer than it was yesterday, so we know how it's going to play out. Excited to get back out there for the final round."

Junior Zach Watterson also delivered another strong performance shooting a 71 (-1). The Beattyville, Kentucky, native recorded an eagle on the par-5 11th hole to go along with three birdies and posted a 33 (-3) on the back nine. He is tied for 12th place individually.

Senior Justin Begley climbed more than 20 spots on the leaderboard with an even-par 72 and sits in 33rd place. Sophomore Jameson Corbin carded a 76 (+5), while redshirt freshman Hristo Yanakiev rounded out the lineup with an 80 (+6).

EKU returns to action for the final round on Thursday morning at 8 a.m. ET. The Colonels will be paired with Central Arkansas and North Florida. Fans can follow live scoring online here.
