RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University beach volleyball team tied its program record for wins in a season with a Senior Day split at the EKU Sand Fest.

The Colonels (16-8) opened the day with a 5-0 sweep of Ottawa before falling 5-0 to Chattanooga.

EKU dominated the morning matchup against Ottawa, winning every flight in straight sets and holding the Braves to under 10 points in five sets.

The day began with Senior Day festivities honoring
Sami Deidesheimer,
Molly Shomock and
Arilyn Lee, and the trio helped set the tone early.

Deidesheimer and Lee delivered a commanding performance in the No. 4 flight, allowing just 10 total points in a 21-4, 21-6 victory.

Amanda Floystad and Carlyn Mcalister followed with a decisive 21-11, 21-7 win in the No. 2 spot.

In the top flight,
Riley Cutler and Shomock secured the match-clinching point with a 21-7, 21-8 victory to give EKU a 3-0 lead.

Zsa Zsa Ferguson and
Sutton Sales added to the sweep with a 21-12, 21-10 win, before
Tatum Meinerz and
Stella Yester closed out the match with a 21-10, 21-12 victory, marking Yester's first collegiate appearance and win.

The Colonels finished the EKU Sand Fest with a 4-1 record, earning four 5-0 sweeps. The Colonels will look to carry that momentum into the Scenic City Showdown as they prepare for the ASUN Championships.
