LEXINGTON, Ky. – After dropping a series to Central Arkansas, the Eastern Kentucky University softball team prepares for a midweek matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats.
The game is set for 6 p.m. ET at John Cropp Stadium.
The contest will be broadcast on SEC Network+ with live stats available.
The Colonels (18-18, 7-4 ASUN) enter the matchup on a three-game losing streak after falling to Louisville and dropping two games in Conway. EKU is currently tied for second in the ASUN Gold Division standings.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats (22-19, 1-14 SEC) are also on a three-game losing streak after dropping a series to No. 3 Oklahoma. Kentucky enters with a 7-7 record at home this season and leads the all-time series 31-7.
The last meeting between the two teams came in 2025, when the Wildcats earned a 5-1 victory. The game remained tied through much of the contest before Kentucky scored three runs in the fifth inning to pull away.
Karissa Hamilton leads the Wildcats offensively, batting .366 with a 1.120 OPS, 48 hits, nine home runs, and 41 RBIs across 41 starts.
In the circle, Sarah Haendiges paces Kentucky with 85 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .259 batting average and a 3.74 ERA. McKenzie Oslanzi leads the team with 22 appearances, limiting opponents to a .331 batting average with a 4.13 ERA.
Both teams have faced similar competition this season, with each earning wins over Bellarmine and IU Indy. Kentucky also picked up two wins against Miami (OH) while falling to Louisville.
LAST TIME OUT
The Colonels went 0-2 in their last outing and struggled to convert opportunities at the plate.
In game one, EKU allowed four runs in the opening inning but settled in defensively, surrendering just one run the rest of the way. The Colonels tallied 10 hits but did not break through until a three-run rally in the top of the seventh.
In game two, EKU struck earlier offensively and held Central Arkansas scoreless through four innings. However, the Bears tied the game in the fifth inning before taking the lead in the sixth, as the Colonels were unable to build a significant cushion.
