EKU Baseball Drops Series Finale Against Lipscomb

Box Score (pdf)

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University lost the series finale to Lipscomb, 10-5, on Sunday at Earle Combs Stadium.

The Colonels scored first to take an early lead.  With two outs and runners at the corners in the bottom of the first, EKU executed a double steal.  Pedro Moreno came home to make it 1-0.

Lipscomb responded with five runs in the second inning.  Brady Miller's 3-run home run capped the big frame and put the visitors ahead 5-1.  A solo home run from Jordan Thomas in the third made it 6-1.  Miller pushed the margin to 7-1 with an RBI single through the left side in the fourth inning.

EKU pushed in two in the fifth.  David Alvarez drew a bases loaded walk to force home Boone Shevey.  A ground out off the bat of Khaleel Pratt was enough to plate Kobe Benson and make it a 7-3 game.

The Bisons (21-23, 14-10 ASUN) added three more in the eighth to put the game away.

A 2-run home run from Alvarez in the bottom of the ninth set the final score.  The ball traveled 426 feet over the wall in right field and was his sixth of the season.

Shevey finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.  Dylan Littlefield had two hits in five at bats.  Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run and three RBIs.

Miller went 2-for-5 with a run and four RBIs for Lipscomb.  Thomas had a 2-for-5 game with two runs and an RBI.

EKU (12-36, 5-19 ASUN) will play at Western Kentucky on Wednesday.  The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET.
