Littlefield Powers Colonels To Win In Series Opener At Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –
Dylan Littlefield drove in three runs in Eastern Kentucky University's series-opening 5-2 win at Austin Peay on Friday.
 
With the game tied 2-2, Boone Shevey started the seventh with a double to right field.  The senior catcher put EKU on top when he scored on Pedro Moreno's 1-out single to center.  Littlefield followed with an RBI double to right.  He then scored on Khaleel Pratt's single and an Austin Peay error to cap the 3-run inning and give the visitors a 5-2 advantage.
 
Littlefield finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.  Moreno had three hits in five at bats, scored once and drove in a run.  Shevey went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
 
The Governors took an early lead on Kyler Proctor's solo home run in the bottom of the first.
 
Littlefield swung the lead to the Colonels (14-36, 6-19 ASUN) when he hit a 2-out, 2-run home run over the wall in right field in the top of the third.  Shevey was on base at the time and EKU went in front 2-1.
 
Ray Velazquez tied it with a solo home run to start the bottom of the fourth inning.
 
EKU starter Hayden Collins allowed two runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings.  He walked two and struck out one.  Bradley Gagen gave his team 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.  Griffin Howell pitched 2 2/3 innings without allowing a run.  Gavin Faulkner earned his first save after striking out the only batter he faced to end the game.
 
Proctor finished 2-for-3 with two walks, a run and one RBI for Austin Peay (23-26, 13-12 ASUN).
 
The series continues with game two on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.
