Darus Ward joined the Eastern Kentucky University soccer staff on March 6, 2024. The 2024 season marks his first year with the program as an assistant coach.
Ward joins the program after two seasons serving as the head coach at Concordia University Ann Arbor. During the 2023 season, his senior goalkeeper led the NJCAA DI in saves (147) and was third in the conference in saves per game (8.65).
"We couldn't be more thrilled to welcome Darus to EKU. His personality is a great fit with our family, but his character and integrity are what makes him special," said Cosinuke. "His ability to connect with players, build meaningful relationships and his passion for scoring goals came out loud and clear through our entire hiring process. We are excited for him to start and make an immediate positive impact on the program."
Before Ward's time in Ann Arbor, he served as an assistant coach with Albion College, specializing as the goalkeeper coach while scouting opposing teams, developing game plans, and recruiting prospective student-athletes.
Ward had stints with the Michigan Jags FC Pro Team, national champions of the United Women's Soccer (UWS) league, Michigan Jaguars FC Jackson, Alma College, and two stints at the prep scene in Michigan.
Ward is a Michigan State University alumnus, where his men's club soccer team captured the 2012 national championship, three conference championships, and one regional championship. He's a native of Monrovia, Liberia.
