Sitnikova is expected to play in the top half of the Colonel line-up … possesses a strong forehand to go along with exceptional court coverage and a fiery, competitive spirit … also has a great work ethic … plays with lots of confidence and intensity during key moments of the match … teamed with Svetlana Pimenova to win two doubles titles this past fall – the Queen City Invitational and the Aces Fall Classic … 2008 team MVP … led EKU with 19 singles victories last spring … won her final 11 singles matches in 2008 … went 9-1 at No. 3 singles against OVC foes last year … teamed with Pimenova to win 14 of their final 16 doubles matches in 2008 including both matches in the OVC championships … finished with seven OVC singles victories in 2007, second most on the team … won eight of her final 10 singles matches at the No. 3 position … teamed with Pimenova to go 16-9 at No. 1 doubles in 2007 …transferred to EKU from Kazak-American University located in Kazakhstan … participated in numerous ITF tournaments before coming to Eastern … she was consistently ranked among the top five in the Kazakh Junior rankings and top 15 of the women’s rankings … her ITF world junior ranking reached as high as No. 357 in singles … enjoys skiing and reading … credits her doubles success to her positive chemistry with Svetlana Pimenova.
