RICHMOND, Ky. – We continue our series of profiles on members of the Eastern Kentucky soccer team. Next up: sophomore Kirsten LaPlante.

LaPlante, a midfielder/defender from Fayetteville, Tennessee, has lived in seven different places throughout her life.

Kirsten LaPlante – I've lived in two different countries and five different states.

EKUSports – What is the reason behind you moving around so much?

KL – Both of my parents were in the military; they were in the Navy. I was born in Spain on the American Naval base where they were stationed. From there, I moved to North Carolina to live with my grandmother because my parents were still doing whatever they were doing in the military. Then, my entire family moved to Hawaii and we lived there for seven years. After that, we moved to Colorado. We were there for a few months. We were living with my uncle and we were all living in this big house together.

We actually flipped a coin to see where we would move next. My uncle also had a house in Alabama and we were deciding whether we were going to stay in Colorado or move to Alabama. So my dad and my uncle flipped a coin, my uncle won and we moved to Alabama. We were there for a few months and then we ended up buying a house in Tennessee and I've been there for the last 12 years.

ES – That is a pretty interesting way to decide where you are going to live. What is one of the coolest places that you've lived?

KL – Hawaii was definitely one of the coolest places and Colorado is really nice too.

ES – Did you get to do any cool things while you lived there?

KL – In Hawaii, there was a lot of stuff to do. We visited the big island once, but I was little, so I don't remember a lot of it. I don't think we did a lot in Colorado. We went to a few museums and stuff like that.

ES – If you could pick another place to live in the world, other than where you have already been, where would it be?

KL – I would like to live in California; that would be pretty cool.

ES – Any reason why?

KL – No, it just seems pretty cool and really nice. I could live in Florida too.
