Will Brian was chosen second team All-Ohio Valley Conference. The 5-foot-10 redshirt sophomore, led the OVC with 10 saves while compiling a 2.48 ERA and striking out 48 in 32 and two-thirds innings. He allowed only nine runs, 26 hits and did not give up a home run. Opponents had a .224 batting average against him. The Brandenburg, Kentucky native led the league in games finished (22) and was sixth in appearances (25).
Brian started the season by pitching three combined innings in two appearances at No. 15 Georgia Tech and No. 4 Louisville. He did not allow a hit or a run, walked one, struck out three and earned the save in Eastern’s 9-6 victory over Tech. In a second game against Louisville later in the season, he earned the save after pitching one hitless inning with a strike out against the then seventh ranked Cardinals.
