Das Izquierdo, the 2008 OVC Freshman of the Year, has a legitimate shot of being honored as the 2009 OVC Player of the Year. Through April 6, he was undefeated in singles (5-0) and doubles (4-0) against OVC opponents. All five of his OVC singles victories have come in straight sets.

Das Izquierdo and the rest of the Colonel men's tennis team head to Paducah from April 17-19 for the OVC tournament.

The native of Valencia, Spain, is majoring in aviation and hopes to become an airline pilot after graduation.
