Nashville, Tenn. - The Eastern Kentucky volleyball team reached back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since the 1990-91 campaigns by edging Belmont 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in Nashville.
After sweeping 10 of their last 11 opponents, the Colonels (20-3, 10-0 OVC) needed all five games against Belmont (15-7), outlasting the Bruins thanks to a 15-11 victory in game five in which EKU hit .571 as a team. Saturday's win marked the fourth time this year the Colonels had come out on top of a game which went the distance.
Senior
Lesley Aldridge registered her team-leading 16th double-double of the year in the win, adding 18 digs to her team-high 23 kills (off a .345 hitting percentage). Freshman
Amy Arlinghaus did her part for the Colonels, chipping in a career-high 18 kills in the win.
The Colonels totaled 13.0 team blocks in the game, including a match-high seven from junior

Jessica Sabath accounting for a match-high 30. Freshman
Brittany Nobilio came up with 17 digs, followed by 14 from sophomore

EKU took a 2-1 lead into game four, having won the first and third games, but the Bruins rallied with a 30-24 win in the fourth set. Belmont's Lindsay Cleveland led the way in the losing effort, posting a 25-kill, 15-dig double-double.
The Colonels return to action next weekend with OVC matches at Samford (Oct. 29) and Jacksonville State (Oct. 30).
