RICHMOND, Ky. – Elissa Furlan, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, will transfer to play volleyball next season at Eastern Kentucky University.
Furlan, a native of Spring Grove, Illinois, spent her freshman season at Wright State. She played in four matches and recorded two kills along with three digs.
As a senior at Richmond Burton High School, Furlan was chosen as the 2024 conference player of the year. She helped the Rockets to a 36-2 record and a regional title that season. Furlan concluded her career with 1,118 kills and set school records for aces in a match, aces in a season and aces in a career.
"We are thrilled to welcome Elissa to the EKU volleyball family," EKU Head Coach
Johnna Bazzani said. "Elissa is a competitive, high-energy athlete who brings tremendous ball control and versatility to our program. We are excited about the impact she will make in Richmond, and can't wait to get her in the gym with our team."
Furlan was a 3-time all-conference and 3-time all-area selection in high school. She was also a 3-time member of the AVCA Phenom Watch List.
EKU tied for second in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings in 2025 and advanced to the ASUN Tournament championship match. The Colonels have won 20 or more matches in three straight seasons, the first time the program has accomplished that since 2003-05.
