The Colonels swept Austin
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Sophomore Amy Arlinghaus registered a match-high 15 kills to lead the Eastern Kentucky volleyball team to a three-game sweep of Austin Peay (30-19, 30-24, 30-21) Saturday night.

Senior Liz Guard and junior Jessica Sabath added 13 and 12 kills, respectively, for EKU. Sophomore Brittany Nobilio led all players with 30 digs.

EKU recorded a .420 attack percentage in game one, and it resulted in an 11-point victory.

The Lady Govs didn't fare much better in game two, but were able to hold EKU to a .289 attack percentage. Despite a better defensive performance, APSU's offense dropped from a .217 attack percentage in game one to a .022 percentage in game two.

After the break, Eastern Kentucky jumped to a 5-0 lead to begin game three. APSU could never overcome that deficit, losing the game, 30-21, and the match.

Eastern Kentucky won both the offensive and defensive battles. The Colonels posted 59 kills (.299 attack percentage) to APSU's 40 kills (.115 attack percentage). Defensively, EKU out-dug the Lady Govs, 86-72, and out-blocked them, 7-2.

Austin Peay's offensive effort was led by junior Ashley Genslak's 11 kills, while sophomores Kristen Kirch and Kamaria Alexander handled the majority of the defense, picking up 24 and 21 digs, respectively.

The Colonels return to action Friday night, Oct. 28 as they travel to take on Murray State at 8 p.m.
