COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball fell to #4 Ohio State Friday night in Value City Arena, 74-45. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 4-0 while the Colonels fall to 2-1.

Junior Darnell Dialls paced Eastern with 11 points while sophomore Mike Rose added nine. Senior Julian Mascoll finished with a team-best six rebounds to go along with seven points and three assists.

For Ohio State, three players tallied double figures – Daequan Cook (22 points), Mike Conley (13) and Ron Lewis (10). The Buckeyes forced 26 Colonel turnovers on the evening which led to 32 OSU points.

Eastern opened the game by connecting on its first five shots, capped by an Adam Leonard three-pointer, to build an early 11-6 lead. A pair of Ohio State three-pointers helped the Buckeyes knot the game at 15-all with 12:33 left in the first half. From there, OSU went on a 20-2 run over the next nine minutes to take control of the contest. The Buckeyes shot 70.8 percent (17-of-24) and forced 15 EKU turnovers in the first 20 minutes of action to take a 43-23 lead into the break.

A Dialls bucket followed by a Rose three-pointer in the first minute of the second stanza cut the deficit to 15 points, 43-28. However, four consecutive Eastern turnovers ended any thoughts of a Colonel comeback.

Ohio State improved to 4-0 all-time against Eastern Kentucky with the win. This was also the first time EKU had faced a ranked opponent since the Colonels battled #19 Louisville on Dec. 30, 2004.

Eastern returns home for one more game before the Thanksgiving break on Monday, Nov. 20. The Colonels host Division III foe Kenyon College in McBrayer Arena with tip slated for 7 p.m.
