RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team split two matches in the Greg Adams Indoor Tennis Center Friday, falling to Chattanooga (4-2) in the opener and defeating Wright State (4-2) in the ensuing match. The Colonels move to 3-3 for the season.

Freshman Alex Das Izquierdo (No. 1) won both of his matches in straight sets. Junior Mel Segota (No. 3) and sophomore Johannes John (No. 4) each prevailed in the afternoon contest to help the Colonels outlast Wright State.

“I’m pleased we didn’t have a letdown after a hard fought match with UTC,” EKU head coach Rob Oertel said. “Our men showed some pride by bouncing back to defeat a solid Wright State team.”

Eastern Kentucky is right back in action Saturday morning, Feb. 2, against Indiana State. Match time is slated for 9 a.m.
