Colonels Down Jacksonville State in Men's Tennis, 4-3

Senior Lars Gratzki
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team concluded the regular season with a 4-3 triumph over host Jacksonville State Saturday afternoon. The Colonels improve to 16-11 overall and 6-3 in the OVC while the Gamecocks fall to 11-8 and 6-3.

After dropping the doubles point, EKU rallied with straight set victories in the top four singles matches to clinch the team win. Freshman Alex Das Izquierdo (No. 1) finished the regular season 6-1 against conference competition.

“It was a good feeling to bounce back after yesterday’s tough loss to Samford,” Eastern Kentucky head coach Rob Oertel said.

The Colonels will be one of six teams participating in the OVC tournament next weekend in Nashville.
