RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University women’s soccer team will continue its road play this weekend in Ohio, facing off against Akron on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and then playing Cleveland State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Colonels enter the weekend with a record of 2-1-1, the best start in program history.

The Colonels played Akron for the first time last season and suffered a 1-0 defeat. They will seek redemption against a team that enters the weekend undefeated at 3-0.

Sunday’s match will be the first meeting between EKU and Cleveland State. The Vikings are currently 1-5-1.

Sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Lynch was recently named the OVC’s Goalkeeper of the week after she recorded a season-high 11 saves last Friday against Fresno State, and then shutout San Francisco on Sunday. Last week, junior midfielder Lauren Imsande was the OVC’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week after she scored the game-winner against Tennessee-Chattanooga. It is the first time in the program’s history two players have received OVC weekly honors in consecutive weeks.
