RICHMOND, Ky. – After six consecutive OVC games, the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team steps out of league play to face Chicago State Tuesday evening. Game time in Chicago is set for 9 p.m. ET.
Eastern Kentucky (10-8, 4-4 OVC) has won three of its last four games while averaging 78 points per game and shooting 51 percent from the field in the victories. Senior
Mike Rose has been a consistent offensive threat all year and especially in the last three wins. The guard nailed the game-winning three-pointer at Southeast Missouri Saturday night right before the end of regulation to lift the Colonels to a 74-71 win. Now, the native of Naperville, Ill., gets a chance to display his skills in front of his hometown family and friends in Chicago.
Chicago State (10-8) is a Division I independent program. The Cougars are 5-0 at home this year with key wins over Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Samford. Chicago State also picked up a road win over Eastern Illinois on Dec. 22. Senior guard David Holston averages 26.4 points per game, which ranks third nationally. In the most recent game, Holston made six three-pointers and finished with 32 points in a 94-86 win at Longwood.
Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series, 2-0. The two teams played in back-to-back years in 1993 and 1994.
Following the Chicago State game, the Colonels conclude their four-game road swing at Morehead State on Saturday.

Justin Stommes finished with a season-high 17 points at Southeast Missouri. After missing all seven field goal attempts in the previous game at Eastern Illinois, Stommes responded by making a career-high six field goals at SEMO. Stommes also recorded a career-best four steals in the win over the Redhawks.

Robin Mestdagh came off the bench to chip in with a career-high 13 points at Southeast Missouri on Jan. 17. He became the sixth Colonel this season to make at least four three-pointers in a game. The guard was 4-for-4 from behind the arc.
