RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team plays three games in three nights beginning Monday as part of the 2009 O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic. Fairleigh Dickinson, UC Irvine and UTSA complete the four-team field. Game times are set for 6 and 8 p.m. each night.

This is the second straight year Eastern Kentucky has faced Fairleigh Dickinson. The Colonels shot 55.6 percent (35-of-63) from the floor in the win at FDU last November. Senior Papa Oppong tallied 12 points and six rebounds while senior Josh Taylor chipped in with 13 points and seven boards. Eastern is 1-0 all-time against the Knights. This will be the first time EKU has played UC Irvine or UTSA.

Fairleigh Dickinson, out of the Northeast Conference, is 1-2 this year after a 62-53 win over Central Michigan Saturday night. Center Alvin Mofunanya paced the Knights with a career-high 22 points and nine rebounds. Guard Sean Baptiste averages a team-high 15.0 points per game.

UC Irvine, out of the Big West Conference, enters play this week 2-1. Guard Michael Hunter averages a team-high 12.1 points per game. The Anteaters ranked seventh nationally in three-point shooting (40.3 percent) last year.

UTSA, out of the Southland Conference, is 2-0 this season which includes a 62-50 win at Iowa in the season opener. The Roadrunners have won 11 of their last 13 non-conference games and are firing at a 43.8 percent (21-of-48) clip from behind the three-point line.

Storylines
-- Junior Justin Stommes, who was named to the preseason All-OVC team, has opened the season with back-to-back 20-point performances. Stommes led all players with 24 points at Pitt on Nov. 19. Through two games, Stommes is shooting 67.9 percent (19-of-28) from the floor.

-- Nine of the 12 Colonels have already netted a three-pointer this season. Twenty-six of the 62 (41.9 percent) field goals made by EKU have been from behind the arc. Eastern set an OVC single-season record with 320 three-pointers made in 2008-09.
