OVC Rivals Square Off Wednesday Night

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team concludes its home OVC schedule Wednesday night against rival Morehead State. The game, sponsored by Aramark, will begin at 7 p.m.

The Colonels (16-10, 9-6 OVC) have clinched a spot in the upcoming OVC tournament and are now focused on moving up to fourth in the league standings so they can host a first round tournament game on March 3. Eastern has won seven straight home conference games. A win over Morehead State would give EKU its most home OVC wins in a season since 1992-93 (eight).

Morehead State (16-11, 12-3 OVC) has not won the league regular season title outright since 1983-84, but is quickly closing in on that goal. MSU has won seven of its last eight games to move to the top of the league standings. The Eagles lead the OVC in field goal percentage defense (41.2 percent), rebounding offense (39.0 rpg) and rebounding margin (+7.5). Sophomore Kenneth Faried has tallied 17 double-doubles this year, which ranks fourth nationally.

Morehead State has won the last three meetings by an average of five points. Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series, 100-69.

Following the Morehead State game, Eastern Kentucky will play its final home game of the regular season Saturday against MAC opponent Ohio.
