RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team will play its final home game of the regular season Saturday against Ohio. The game, sponsored by Delta Dental, will begin at 7 p.m.
The Colonels (17-10, 10-6 OVC) will honor seniors
Mike Rose and
Ryan Wiersma before the opening tip. Rose needs seven more points to move up to second on the EKU all-time scoring list. The guard currently has 1,717 career points and is right behind Antonio Parris (1983-87) with 1,723 points. Wiersma will be making his 97th appearance in a Colonel jersey Saturday. He has started 21 games as a senior and is third on the team with 62 assists.
Ohio (13-12, 6-6 MAC) has key non-conference victories over Austin Peay, Tulsa and Indiana State this season. The Bobcats lead the MAC in free throw percentage (72.1), three-point percentage (38.7) and assists per game (14.16). Senior forward Jerome Tillman leads the league in scoring (18.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.4 rpg). Tillman finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds at Kent State on Tuesday.
Ohio has won all three meetings between the two schools with the last match-up occurring in 1989. As part of the ESPNU BracketBusters agreement, Eastern Kentucky will return the game at Ohio next season. EKU is 2-0 against MAC schools this year with victories over Akron and Ball State.
Following the Ohio game, Eastern Kentucky returns to OVC action next Thursday at UT Martin.

--Tickets are available by calling the EKU ticket office at 859-622-2122. The ticket box office will open at 3 p.m., one hour prior to the women’s contest. Arena doors will open at 3 p.m., as well.
Storylines
--This is the fourth year Eastern has participated in the ESPNU BracketBusters series. The Colonels are 1-2 with their lone win coming last year against Ball State.
--Eastern Kentucky has won six of its last seven games overall and seven straight at home. A win over Ohio would push EKU’s winning streak to a season-high four games.

Justin Stommes has reached double figures scoring in eight of the last 10 games. During that stretch, Stommes has shot at least 50 percent from the floor seven times.
