JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team has a chance to earn its first four game winning streak of the year Saturday afternoon at Jacksonville State. Tip time is set for 5 p.m. ET.
The Colonels (14-9, 7-5 OVC) have won seven of nine games overall following an 80-73 win at Tennessee Tech Thursday night. EKU made 12-of-24 (50 percent) three-pointers at Tech, equaling their best three-point shooting effort of the season. Junior
Josh Taylor equaled his season high by netting four trifectas.
Jacksonville State (10-11, 4-8) is coming off a 57-52 win over conference leader Morehead State Thursday night. Jonathan Toles gave the Gamecocks the lead for good thanks to a three-point play with 42 seconds left. Toles finished with 13 points and six assists while DeAndre Bray added a career-high 18 points. Three players average double figures for the Gamecocks led by Jeremy Bynum’s team-high 13.0 ppg. JSU averages an OVC-best 15.7 assists per game.
Eastern is 6-0 all-time against Jacksonville State at home, but just 1-5 in Pete Mathews Coliseum. The Colonels’ lone win in Jacksonville was a 72-71 victory on Feb. 16, 2006.
Following the Jacksonville State game, Eastern Kentucky returns home for a four-game home stand beginning Thursday, Feb. 12, with a nationally televised ESPNU game against Southeast Missouri.

Mike Rose, who currently sits with 1,619 career points, needs 17 points to move up to third on the EKU all-time scoring list. Rose netted 6-of-8 (75 percent) three-point attempts at Tennessee Tech and moved up to eighth spot on the OVC top-10 career three-pointers list with 248 trifectas.
