RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky dropped both ends of a doubleheader against Southern Illinois Edwardsville on Saturday at Gertrude Hood Field. The Colonels (9-13) fell 6-0 in the first game. The Cougars (26-6) won the second game by a score of 4-1.
In the first game, SIU Edwardsville jumped out in front with three runs in the first two innings, and then carried a no-hitter into the bottom of the fifth. Lauren Zembruski drove in the game’s first run with a double. Lindsay Longfellow made it 2-0 with an RBI single up the middle.
The Cougars added two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth. Zembruski finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and two walks. Courtney Mall and Longfellow each finished with two hits. Kaitlin Colosimo went the distance in the circle, allowing three hits and striking out three.
Jena Handley went 2-for-3 for the Colonels.
In the second game, SIUE broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the third. Nicole Beecher platted the first run of the game with an RBI sacrifice bunt. Whitney Davis drove in a pair with a single to left field. Longfellow capped the scoring with an RBI single up the middle.
The Colonels got on the board in the bottom of the seventh.

Erika Taylor (12-3) tossed a complete game for SIU Edwardsville, allowing one run on seven hits and striking out six. Freshman
Brittany Mockbee allowed one run in four and two-thirds innings of relief. She struck out four and allowed four hits.
The Colonels’ 11-game home stand continues on Wednesday when Kent State visits Gertrude Hood Field. The doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m.
