RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team steps out of conference play Tuesday evening to host Chicago State. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m.
EKU (13-6, 6-2 OVC) has shot at least 50 percent from the field in three straight games. The Colonels have accomplished that feat two other times in five years under head coach
Jeff Neubauer. However, Eastern has not shot 50 percent in four straight games under Neubauer.
Chicago State (5-14), out of the Great West Conference, has dropped seven straight games including a 63-42 decision at Texas-Pan American Saturday night. Six of the seven losses came on the road. Junior forward Carl Montgomery paces CSU in both scoring (13.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.2 rpg). Junior guard Christian Wall led the Cougars with 13 points in Saturday’s game at Texas-Pan American.
Eastern Kentucky has never lost to Chicago State, winning all three meetings including the game at Chicago State last year. Junior
Justin Stommes recorded 19 points on 77.8 percent (7-of-9) shooting to go along with five assists and five rebounds in the 71-68 victory on Jan. 20, 2009.
Following the Chicago State game, Eastern Kentucky will gear up for an OVC showdown with Morehead State Saturday in McBrayer Arena.
