RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team takes to the road this weekend for games at Austin Peay and Tennessee State. First up is APSU Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Colonels (14-7, 6-3 OVC) are coming off a disappointing loss to rival Morehead State this past Saturday. However, Eastern has shown a propensity to bounce back after a loss this year. EKU is 5-1 in games immediately following a defeat and has dropped back-to-back games just once in 2009-10. A win over the Governors would give Eastern Kentucky the season sweep of the series for the first time in five years.
Austin Peay (11-10, 5-4 OVC) earned an overtime victory over Jacksonville State on Jan. 23 to stay above .500 in league action. The Governors have not won back-to-back games since Dec. 12. Senior Wes Channels (16.0 ppg) and sophomore Anthony Campbell (15.6 ppg) both rank among the top four OVC scorers. Channels and junior Duran Roberson each tallied double-doubles in the win at Jacksonville State.
The Governors lead the all-time series, 56-47. Eastern Kentucky has won just once in Clarksville over the last 14 seasons (1-15). EKU’s lone win in that span was a 67-63 overtime decision on Jan. 13, 2005. The Colonels are 0-5 in Clarksville under head coach
Jeff Neubauer.
Following the Austin Peay game, Eastern Kentucky concludes the weekend at Tennessee State on Saturday night.
