Colonels Aim For Elusive Road Win at Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team finishes its two game road swing Saturday evening at Tennessee Tech. Tip time is set for 8:30 p.m.

Tennessee Tech (40.3 percent) and Eastern Kentucky (40.2) are the top two three-point shooting teams in the OVC. However, over the last six games the Colonels (10-6, 3-2 OVC) are shooting just 32 percent (48-of-150) from behind the arc. EKU had its second lowest three-point shooting night of the year Thursday at Jacksonville State (23.1 percent).

Tennessee Tech (7-8, 1-3) has dropped two straight following a four game winning streak. Guard Frank Davis is among the league leaders in three-point shooting at 51.1 percent. He leads the team in scoring at 15.0 ppg. In Tech’s most recent game, the Golden Eagles shot 55.3 percent from the field, but dropped a 77-64 decision to Morehead State. Elijah Muhammad paced TTU with 16 points while Kevin Murphy chipped in with 15 tallies.

Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series by a count of 66-52. The Colonels will be shooting for their first three game winning streak in Cookeville since EKU won eight straight road games from 1976 to 1983.

Following the Tennessee Tech game, Eastern Kentucky returns home for a four game homestand which begins with OVC foe Eastern Illinois on Jan. 14.
